Good morning, America. Guess what happened yesterday?
Donald Trump won six states in the primary, which puts him on the strongest path to the Republican nomination yet.
And then at his press conference/victory speech he managed to insult Senator Ben Sasse for suggesting that Trump is not really conservative, and after that Trump proceeded to threaten House Speaker Paul Ryan.
In Trump’s words: "I'm going to get along great with Congress. Paul Ryan, I don't know him well, but I'm sure I'm going to get along great with him. And if I don't, he's going to have to pay a big price."
These two Trump targets are elected leaders… From his own party. Yeah. Those guys are fellow Republicans.
I've written here often in a tone of jest towards Trump, but the time has come to take him seriously and recognize a few utterly terrifying truths:
He is now referring to himself as a Nationalist, which is the same system of beliefs that led to fascism and nazism in Europe.
Trump refused to disavow the KKK. The KKK. Let that sink in.
He screamed at a protestor, “Are you from Mexico? Are you from Mexico?”
He has expressed admiration for Vladimir Putin, the Russian leader who has murdered enemies, imprisoned journalists, invaded Ukraine, and allied with Syrian monster Assad.
Trump admires his strength.
He has mused in similar admiration of the way the Chinese government murdered thousands of student protestors in Tiananmen Square.
China was strong.
What in the blazing hell is “strong” in a militarized government turning its weapons on young people peacefully gathered to express their opinions?
So this is the guy who could win the Republican nomination.
Democrats, listen up: this man could beat Hillary or Bernie because that many Americans have been utterly blinded by their rage at government.
For the sake of the country, liberals are going to have to save the Republican Party from introducing this dangerous narcissist to the possibility of access to nuclear codes.
Find out if you're in an open primary state, and vote for the Republican who is in 2nd place. I'm totally serious. If only because we have to be Americans first, and Donald Trump is a threat to America. I wouldn't use this urgent language if the case were not mega urgent.
In other news:
Hillary Clinton is well on her way to the Democratic nomination.
Bernie Sanders won in Vermont, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Minnesota. He will go on.
Ted Cruz won in Texas, Oklahoma, and Alaska.
Marco Rubio finally won a state in Minnesota.
